Almost sixty students from Sandhurst secondary schools attend the inaugural Student Leadership Day held at the Woolshed in Kialla on Friday February 7.
The focus of the day was ethical and servant leadership in the secondary school context, with activities and presentations that enriched students’ understanding of leadership and how to enact their leadership in an ethical way.
The students enjoyed a key note speech from Director Paul Desmond entitled “What the world needs of its young leaders today and into the future”, and a presentation from Maria Weatherill about the scriptural foundations of leadership and the modelling of Jesus as an ethical leader. Tim Campbell of St Joseph’s Echuca, started the day with some activities that focussed students’ attention on some basic leadership behaviours and a selection of other warm up activities.
To complete the afternoon, students worked with presenter Kate Wilde on ‘engaging others’ through a series of very practical activities that drew their attention to the importance of inclusivity, listening to others and working collaboratively with others.
