Unit Outline:

In this unit students will have the opportunity to explore their relationship with God and examine the nature of prayer and how they can creatively express this relationship. They will experience some traditional prayers and gain knowledge in how to develop their personal form of communication with God.

Achievement Standards:

By the end of Year Two students should be able to:
Identify prayer as an expression of God’s relationship with each of us and a way of responding to this relationship.
Describe various ways they can pray. They identify and participate in different types of prayer.

Unit Outcomes:

By the end of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Identify special ways to talk and respond to God.
  2. Experience and participate in prayers of praise, thanks, forgiveness and petition.
  3. Identify the Parish Church as a special place for the Church community to gather, celebrate and pray.
  4. Identify and know some simple prayers, some traditional prayers and some formal liturgical responses.
